After all HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray War, the Japan based world renowned consumer electronics company Toshiba entering the Blu-Ray high definition disc industry by joining the Blu-Ray Disc Association(BDA) last week. BDA is an industry association of companies that develop and support the Blu-Ray technology also membered by Apple, HP, Sony, LG , Intel ... Toshiba realized that its HD-DVD format struggled with the Blu-Ray format , because HD-DVD only using for the online purposes like streaming and downloading movies, where as Blu-Ray format dominate the home entertinment disc market. So Toshiba turned to make improved quality DVD players like XDE DVD players and televisions to fight with Blu-Ray. Also Toshiba noted the Connected Television industry, which offer bridging of PC to the television. But it is also a long term idea, so Toshiba specialized in easier technologies that worth for most consumers.
Now Toshiba seen that the Blu-Ray drives and players become the essential parts of the notebooks and with HDTVs, so the company rethink to make short term benefit from Blu-Ray Crew. Instead of compete directly with Blu-Ray , Toshiba had Blu-Ray technology without sharing its less favourable HD-DVD disc architecture standard. Because many players now offer HD movie streaming from providers like Amazon, Netflix and Vudu, that these connectivity is used to compete with Blu-Ray. Now these services make small headache to the Blu-Ray rental market, even its very minute.
Toshiba also announce that they creating next generation video entertainment experience with their Cell Processor. So its clear that Toshiba will use Blu-Ray to fulfill their future dream on the vast maket of connected media distribution.
