Sometimes due to virus infection or system registry changes, “Folder Options” in ”My Computer“> “Tools” menu goes missing.
Solution:
1. Download Folder Options Restore by right-click and “save target as” option.
2. Right-click the downloaded file and select “Merge“.
3. A dialog box asks you whether to add registry entries to registry. Click ”Yes“ .
If you get a error message that the “Registry editing is disabled by the administrator“, then just copy paste
“REG add HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f” without quotes in Start > Run menu and click “OK“. Registry editing will be enabled.
4. Log-off and Log-in Windows again.
Now you should be able to see “Folder Options“.
Note: This problem is generally caused by Virus infection. I would suggest a complete scan of your system with a good antivirus software.
