CES 2009 didn’t even begin properly, and Sony Ericsson has already announced two new phones: Sony Ericsson C510 and Sony Ericsson W508.
The first one, Sony Ericsson C510, is an old acquaintance of ours, as we’ve seen it several times until now, sometimes under the codename Kate.
Presented as the most affordable Cyber-shot phone to date, the C510 is a good looking candybar that brings a new SE feature, namely Smile Shutter. This is a “clever technology that detects a person’s smile and immediately takes the photo.”
Said new feature will also be embedded into the 8MP C905, by means of software upgrade.
Back to the C510, though. This is what it looks like:
Now let’s take a peek at the features and specs of Sony Ericsson C510:

Sony Ericsson W508, the second new phone unveiled by the Swedish-Japanese venture is, obviously, a Walkman. It comes in a clamshell form factor and it somewhat resembles the W980.
The W508 follows the footsteps of Nokia’s Supernova phones, as it comes with an extra Style-Up cover that can change its look.
Apart from that, the phone seems very nice, featuring touch-sensitive external music controls, as well as the following:
- 2.2 inches internal scratch-resistant display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K colors
- 1.1 inch monochromatic OLED external scratch-resistant display with 128 x 36 pixels
