Dot-o-mator helps you create random names by entering some prefix words and suffixes or choosing select one category from the name lists for each field. Click "Combine" and Dot-o-mator will list out the names that are relevant to your inputs. The site uses Dotster for domain lookups. All you need to do is to just click on "Check Availablity" and you'll be brought to the Dotster page and from there you can purchase your domain name.
Dot-o-mator provides you a scratchboard where you can save the names you like the most from the ones that are produced. This free service also gives you interesting domain naming tips which teaches you how to choose a good domain name.
If you're creating a Web 2.0 app, you can use the Dot-o-mator Web 2.0 Name Generator to help to generate random Web 2.0 domain names. I've tried it out and some of the names there are quite nice.
